Destroy Acne With This Top-Notch Secret Recipe During the Summer

March 13, 2008 by skincarefanatic1225

With the weather becoming warmer (depending on which region you are located), acne is a hindrance during this time of year. Sweat glands work more in the summer to regulate body temperature, which is a contributing factor to acne. There are multiple ways to combat acne in the summer and spring. One approach that works for me is to include more fresh and organic salads into my eating plan. The secret is not just to eat any type of salad; there are specific ingredients within this special acne-blasting salad that work together to help eliminate acne. The best part is that it is incredibly simple and the ingredients are available in your nearest health food (or farmer’s market) store.

The Secret Ingredients:

1. 1 package of pre-packaged and pre-washed mixed Organic salad greens (make sure it includes thinly sliced carrots in it). You may buy a version that has all kinds of raw vegetables mixed into the salad.

2. 1-2 fresh cucumbers.

3. 1 small tomato thinly sliced.

4. Fresh dried cilantro, basil, and thyme herbs (Health food stores sell these cheaply by the bulk).

5. Extra-virgin olive oil (you will only need ¼ a cup); using this oil is optional.

6.1 cup of cooked organic Spinach leaves. (You may buy it frozen)

7. ½ cup cooked organic corn. (You may buy the corn frozen and cook it separately)

8. 1-2 cups of shredded RAW organic purple cabbage (do not cook this).

What to do:

1. Empty everything (except olive oil and herbs) into a big bowl.

2. Toss gently.

3. Drizzle the small amount of olive oil all over the salad. Then sprinkle as much of the herbs you want into the salad.

4. Toss gently again.

5. Enjoy! Have this salad with your lunch or dinner (or even for breakfast)!

Acne and Stress: The Half-Truth

February 11, 2008 by skincarefanatic1225

You’ve probably read that stress causes acne. However, through my experimentation, I’ve found it to be more of a partial truth. The routine became a part of my life when I was stressed out, and would break out into acne the next day. After all the books I read on how stress was related to acne, I assumed it was the stress causing the acne. But, what I didn’t take into account was what I ate when I was stressed.

I did an experiment and recorded my results. When it was a stressful day I would “calm” myself with lots of candy, cookies, ice-cream, or other processed sweet treats. I did a split test on this theory and another time I was stressed out, I did not each as much processed sweat treats to see if this change made a difference. Another time I returned to eating lots of sweet treats when I was stressed out and the acne flare ups would happen every time. I thought it was the stress, but it was the excessive amount of processed sugar consumed that caused the acne breakouts.

So while stress and acne are related, stress in itself doesn’t cause acne. After all, stress is a normal part of our lives and we all experience it. It is how we handle it that distinguishes clear skin from acne-infested skin. A simple idea if you have a craving for a sweet treat, but don’t want the acne to go with it: Eat organic dried figs (No more than a cup at most) for breakfast. Fresh figs are great also, but dried is cheaper. Be sure to drink a lot of water while consuming dried figs since they are dehydrated.

Acne, Oily, And Dull Skin—Instantly Improve Your Skin Health With This All-Natural 3 Day Crash Course

February 10, 2008 by skincarefanatic1225

Having clear healthy skin is a wonderful essential for many people. This all natural three day crash course will give you a simple, yet effective regime that improves your skin’s clarity, tone, youthfulness, smoothness, and radiance in just three days.

Day One of Your Beauty Crash Course

Facial cleansing routine: Crush a few fresh strawberries (that you’ll be eating for breakfast). Crush the strawberries to a pulp-like texture. Slather this texture on your facial and neck skin. Let it stay in your skin for 10 minutes or more and rinse with lukewarm water.

For breakfast, eat as many fresh strawberries as you desire. An organic variety is most preferred as non-organic versions are high in pesticide residuals. If you can’t find organic (or you’re on a tight budget) then look for a local farmer’s market to buy your strawberries from. Be sure to eat the strawberries alone. It is also critical to wait 2 hours or more before eating other foods for the day. Eating strawberries (alone) helps your skin appear radiant because of the super high dosage of the vitamin C content. The vitamin C in the berries can be absorbed more efficiently by the body if eaten alone than with other foods or fruits. Using strawberries externally will exfoliate and cleanse the skin.

The surplus benefit is it is known that vitamin C can be absorbed in the skin. Since these berries are super high in vitamin C, a high concentration of vitamin C will be absorbed into your skin! Forget about those expensive vitamin C sprays on the market-The vitamin C you’ll have absorbed in your skin will stay in your skin (even after you wash it) for up to four days! And yes, you may use your regular facial skincare products as you desire (after doing the regime).

Day Two of Your Beauty Crash Course

Facial cleansing routine: Mix about 2 teaspoons of lemon juice with warm water and wash your face with the mixture. Do not get any of the lemon juice in your mouth. Rinse with cool water. This routine helps brighten up your complexion.

For breakfast: Eat as many blueberries as you desire for breakfast.

These are best to purchase organic as berries are high in pesticide residuals. You could buy frozen organic blueberries; they are fair in price and can keep for a long time. Wait 2 hours or more before eating anything else for the day. This is optional, but if you desire instant smoother, radiant, and softer skin, this is a very beneficial trick to try: At night, before going to bed, slather honey on your facial and neck skin. Wait about 25 minutes before washing it off with cool water.

Day Three of Your Beauty Crash Course

Facial cleansing routine: Mash a ripe banana. Slather it all over your face and neck. Use circular upward motions to thoroughly rub the banana’s matter in your skin. Let it settle in your skin for three minutes or so and rinse it off with lukewarm water. Make sure not to get any of the banana’s matter inside your mouth.

Breakfast: Eat as many cherries you desire. These are probably cheaper and better to buy frozen (organic is preferred). Eat them alone and wait 2 hours (or more) before eating other foods. Nighttime routine: If you have acne, slice up a tomato. Rub its contents over your face and neck. Rinse after 10 minutes or so.

Menstrual Cycles and Acne: Three Secrets that Ease Menstrual Discomfort While Providing Acne Treatment.

December 23, 2007 by skincarefanatic1225

Many women are bothered by two nuisances that coincide with each other around the same time of month; menstrual cycle discomfort and acne. Acne can occur during a woman’s menstrual cycle even if she has never had acne before. Not only does this nuisance occur during that time of the month, but it may take a while (if ever) for it to go away.

Many women suffer from menstrual bloating, cramping, and acne breakouts all into one during the same time; this can make life unfair! The good news is there are three secrets that I tested that will make your life so much easier next time. They’re easy to do and cost-effective; they just require some slight preparation. Unless you have severe cramping (that causes you to stay home all day) do not take menstrual pain medication when trying these secrets. These secrets fight both acne and menstrual discomfort.

Secret #1: Approximately four to five days before your menstrual cycle comes, begin decreasing salt consumption. Sodium is necessary for optimal health, but not in the form of sodium-chloride (table salt). It’s best to get salt from fresh foods that naturally have low dosages of salt in them such as spinach, turnip greens, collard greens, and broccoli. The key is to avoid both table salt and foods with processed salt added to them. The easiest way to do this is to prepare all your own foods; don’t eat out unless you know exactly how your food is prepared. If you buy any boxed and canned items, try to purchase “no-salt added” versions that are abundantly available in health food stores. Be sure to use lots of fresh herbs like Basil, Cilantro, Thyme, Black Pepper, etc to season your food. You don’t have to obsess over the amount of salt you consume as long as you are eating mostly fresh foods. Not only will this help reduce menstrual bloating and cramping, it will reduce the appearance of acne as the overloading of salt is a major contributing factor.

Secret #2: It’s good to exercise a few times a week, but if you don’t regularly get enough exercise, at least power walk a day or two before you anticipate your menstrual cycle coming. It is critical to do this early in the morning. Aim for at least twenty-five minutes of brisk power walking. This will reduce menstrual cramping, bloating, and help keep your skin clear by removing toxins from your body (plus giving your skin a healthy glow). It’s better to squeeze in more days of power walking, but at least power walk the morning before and the morning of your menstrual cycle.

Secret #3: A few days before you anticipate your menstrual cycle coming, eat fresh (preferably) or frozen cherries for breakfast. Eat as much as you want for breakfast, but be sure to eat them by themselves. You may drink water as you desire. You don’t have to eat all the cherries in one time. You can eat a cup for breakfast and eat more when you get hungry again. Just be sure that when you’re done eating cherries for the day, you wait at least 2 hours before eating other items. Do this for 2-3 days before your menstrual cycle begins for breakfast. This will help keep your skin clear as cherries are internal cleansers. They also have virtually no sodium so you don’t have to worry about racking up unnecessary sodium content for the day.
